A pic of me and my Daddy, would have been nice to throw a dress on that bald baby so everyone would know she’s a girl, but maybe it was hot that day…
After James opened his Father’s day cards (get it he asked for ‘nothing’…)
We got an early start heading to Glenwood springs for the day.
It was a gorgeous day to swim in the springs.
We ate lunch, swam some more, rode the slides and played in the pool. Then we dried off and went to the Strawberry festival in town to get ice cream. We found a tent for Woody’s ice cream and they had the best homemade root beer that was perfect in a float – full of licorice flavor.
The views on the way back were just as nice.
Slow-mo in the tunnel.
We got our Sunday phone call from Joel he said: they are doing buddy shooting this week. That’s where you shoot, your buddy crawls, they shoot and you crawl, repeat until you hit the target. Next week it’s live bullets going over them as they crawl under the wire. A new threat was found crawling around – rattlesnakes. So you might have to crawl with lizards, snakes and tarantulas while bullets shoot over your head – nice. He said he got 4 hours of downtime today and got to talk to some other soldiers about games and movies. He said send more cough drops – I don’t know what they are trading them for…it was a short call, just about 4 minutes, but it was good to hear him.
Clouds and sunset on the way to Green Russell jazz.
The jazz was the best yet – a perfect Father’s day!
